We have another rock poster guru here. Michael Michael Motorcyle [ what a name! ] has been creating amazing art since he was 10 years old. Aside from a few college course and teaching his mother, he is mostly self taught.

Torch Run

May 27, 2009 - Leave a Response

Here’s a design I created for the Oregon Special Olympics: Law Enforcement Torch Run. When I first started this project, I was stumped. How could I make my Torch Run design original? That’s when I thought of using the flame, not as a single element, but more of a design/pattern for the T-shirt.

During a browse-a-thon at Behance I found this nice font created by Svetoslav Simov [ Based in Sofia, Bulgaria ]. Svetoslav is the founder of Fontfabric, a newly invented company [ 2008 ] dedicated to bringing us drool-worthy fonts that make our eyes sting with delight and hands quiver in excitement.

Four Suits

May 24, 2009 - 2 Responses

During my usual cruise on TheDieline I came across a new take on gum packaging.  Four Suits Chewing Gum, designed by Anthony Cruz, uses the familiar packaging of a card deck for his gum line. I love this idea!

From Anthony Cruz,

With multiple separate elements to consider, Four Suits Chewing Gum takes advantage of color palettes, patterns, symbols, & imagery to create a coherent packaging theme. Still, each flavor is capable of standing independently and maintain the visual appeal of the encompassing group.

I think it does just that, each is obviously a part of the same line while still being unique and different from each other. Nice job Anthony.

Alchera Chocolate

Here’s another piece from my portfolio. Alchera, an Australian chocolate brand designed to bring back the culture of the aboriginal people and their art. The goal is to get away from the stereotypical Australian outlook [ bye bye koala bear & kangaroo ], and bring forward the countries roots.

Justin Hampton is an illustration artist from Santa Cruz, California. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon [ represent! ]. His bold, in your face imagery is like no other and has brought him to be one  of the top artists in the modern rock poster scene. Justin has created posters for famed musical artists such as Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Bob Dylan, Tool, & Queens of the Stone Age. Yes, this guy is full of awesome-ness.

He is currently teaming up with writer Andrea Grant on a project named Grimm Recollections. This 12 part series will visually retell select stories from the Brothers Grimm’s Tales set in the modern day of New York City. I am having a vision, it’s saying the project is going to be amazing!

Here’s some of my favorite pieces from Justin…

Green Living

May 20, 2009 - Leave a Response

Don’t you want to be green? Oh come on, I know it’s a secret fantasy of yours. This campaign is meant to tingle those fantasies and show the people of the world that being green is easy. Hopefully the audience catches the sarcasm: You don’t have to be a tree hugger to make a difference.

The campaign consisted of the Green Living identity, a simple website interface for greenliving.com, a two page spread, and a billboard.
